Drug Screening

Our Drug Screening Program provides urinalysis screenings to detect as much as 12 substances with the addition of the Nicotine and K2 (synthetic marijuana) test. This program is available for any child in Canadian County as well as any adult in need of services that may lead to the case management or treatment of a child. Additionally, our DSP uses a Breathalyzer unit to check for the presence of alcohol while providing hair follicle tests.

Sanctions Program

Our short-term program, the Canadian County Juvenile Detention Center Sanctions Program, is contained with the Canadian County Juvenile Detention Center. Inside, the regular detention residents are kept separately from the sanctioned residents. Moreover, there is a different emphasis on this program — it serves as a consequence for courts to use if there is a violation of probation.

Detention

Housed inside the Gary E. Miller Children’s Justice Center, the Canadian County Juvenile Detention Center opened in August 1999. It contains 28 beds within its secure facility, serving as a safe holding facility for juveniles who have been arrested. Here, they will wait as they undergo the court process, or will be on standby if they haven’t been placed yet.

Supervised Visitation Program

The Canadian County Supervised Visitation Center was built to provide children with a neutral environment that promotes safe and healthy interaction between family members. The program is child-focused, allowing for a comfortable space where parents can build a relationship with their children. Because it is a supervised visitation, verbal and physical confrontation can be prevented.

Comprehensive Home-Based Services (CHBS) and
Parent Aide Services (PAS)

CHBS/PAS is a comprehensive program that serves Canadian County families that are impacted by child abuse and neglect. CHBS and PAS are provided through a contract with the Oklahoma Department of Human Services. The CHBS staff provide an array of case management services designed to prevent: children’s removal from the home, assist in the reunification process back into the home, or stabilize adoptive or other permanent out-of-home placements that are at risk of disruption.
