Gary E. Miller Canadian County Children’s Justice Center’s Camp HOPE America, Oklahoma

Camp HOPE is a camping and mentoring program in the United States that focuses on children and teens who have experienced trauma. Our mission is to give youth a brighter future by creating pathways to hope and healing. This is a year-long mentoring program composed of therapists, mentors, and adult staff. At Camp HOPE America-Oklahoma, Gary E. Miller Canadian County Children’s Justice Center we have the opportunity to use fun-filled avenues to give children and teens hope for a brighter future.

Camp HOPE is for children and teens who meet the following criteria:

The Camp HOPE America-Oklahoma, Gary E. Miller Canadian County Children’s Justice Center Experience

Once a year, youth and teens will have an opportunity to attend a week-long camp. Throughout the course of a week at camp, campers participate in a variety of activities ranging from field games to rock climbing, tubing, to challenge courses, and art projects to silly campfire songs. Campers are challenged to step outside of their comfort zone and accomplish an activity they have not had the opportunity to before. Each day, campers read about real people, not too much older than they are, who have overcome diversity abuse and other real-life challenges to show them that they are not alone and that their past does not define their future.

Each month, Camp HOPE America-Oklahoma, Gary E. Miller Canadian County Children’s Justice Center will provide youth and families a safe and nurturing community. Events will be held throughout the year and will vary from team-building activities to college tours.
Our goal is to continue to provide children and teens with potential careers, STEAM projects, hobbies, and interests while also giving them positive role models and friends.

Pathways Mentoring Program

Pathways is the year-round group mentoring component of Camp HOPE. Its prime goal is to nurture community and empower youth in their journey to hope and healing. During Pathways, youth will be introduced to new experiences, positive values, and other children who’ve gone through similar experiences. Activities include: swimming, rappelling, hiking, game nights, weekend camps, STEM activities, pizza and movies nights, and more.

The Gary E. Miller Canadian County Children’s Justice Center is excited to offer this program to families of Canadian County. If you are interested in this program for youth and/or teens, please reach out to Michelle Wilson, Camp HOPE Director, (405) 264-5559, or [email protected].
